Impact of FAFSA on Unaccompanied Homeless Youth

Comments Submitted to U.S. Dept. of Education

On November 15, the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty submitted comments on the 2011-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the document used to determine eligibility for federal assistance to attend American institutions of higher education The focus of the Law Center's comments was ensuring that homeless unaccompanied youth can be found independent so that they can apply for and receive financial aid for college or graduate school without having the income of resources of their parents considered, since they are not connected in any way with their parents.
